Mariposite is a chromium-rich mica that gives a green color to the white dolomitic marble it's usually found in. It is named after Mariposa, California, where it was discovered.

Mariposite can be found in the Sierra Nevada, Marblemount, Washington, Newfoundland, Canada, and Europe.
